Goodbye Beloved Brother
Tim came to the Everett Fire Department July 10, 1978 after an illustrious career as a U.S. Forest Service Smokejumper, where he counted 164 jumps. In 1982 Tim was among the first-ever group of Everett Firefighters to be sent to Harborview Medical Center for paramedic training. Tim served the citizens of Everett as a paramedic for twelve years until his promotion to Fire Captain in 1996. Tim continued his career to the position of Station Captain (Senior Captain) at Fire Station 2, 2201 16th Street until the time of his death.
Beyond his career with the Everett Fire Department Tim also served his emergency services family both as an educator and grief counselor. Tim was an honored medical educator within Snohomish County, teaching new Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics by drawing on his long experience. Tim was also a member of the Snohomish County Critical Incident Stress Debriefing team, a position that he took very seriously and one where he would invest efforts above and beyond the call of duty.
As a member of the CISD team Tim was responsible for helping his fellow firefighters understand and cope with the emotions created by the very difficult runs. As a recipient of Tim’s CISD service the author can state with certainty that there was no limit to Tim’s compassion and understanding, nor was there any length to which he would not stretch for his brother firefighters.
Tim leaves behind a loving extended family that includes his immediate family, his brother firefighters, as well as countless doctors, nurses, police officers and other emergency services personnel who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Full fire service funeral with honor guard, Vancouver Bagpipers, and processional tenatively scheduled for Friday, December 12. Information about services for Tim will be updated on this website when details become available.
Our beloved brother, Tim Ross, passed away December 5, 2003. Tim had been battling cancer for five months.
Tim faced death with the same courage and good humor he had used to face fire, tragedy and despair countless times as a twenty-five year veteran Everett Firefighter. Tim had an infectious personality that was a large part of the tapestry that is the Everett Fire Department. Our loss will be heartfelt and he will be sorely missed.
