Lions Fund Thermal Imagers
North Everett Lions Donate $65,000 for Thermal Imaging Cameras!
The North Everett Lions Club have a long history of giving within the Everett Community. In keeping with their international mission of improving sight, they have traditionally supported local vision programs. In 2001 they expanded their scope and provided a $65,000 grant to the Everett Fire Department for the purchase of thermal imaging cameras.
The City of Everett matched that sum and the combined total was used to purchase eight MSA Evolution 4000 Thermal Imaging Cameras for the Everett Fire Department. The cameras arrived in the summer of 2001. Every member of our department has now received training in the use of these cameras and they are now in service on all our fire suppression apparatus, serving the people of Everett twenty-four hours a day.
Thermal imaging cameras can play several roles on the fire ground. By allowing firefighters to “see through smoke”, they bring vision to a place it has never been before. The Everett Fire Department uses thermal imaging for aggressive fire attack, search and rescue, salvage and overhaul, and special operations.
The North Everett Lions have been staunch supporters of public safety in Everett. In 1982 they provided funds for the purchase of Everett’s first brand new medic unit. Today they have rededicated that resolve with the grant for thermal imaging cameras.
On behalf of Everett’s firefighters, and the citizens of Everett, we extend a very special thanks to the North Everett Lions.
