Everett Firefighters Provide Unique Auction Item to Help Local Child Jacob Peterson, age 7, received a lifesaving heart transplant in December of 2000 at Childrens Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle. Since his operation his medical expenses have run anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 per month and his family's health insurance maximum was reached in February 2002. Friends of Jacob Peterson decided to hold a community auction to raise funds for his ongoing medical expenses and asked Everett's Firefighters if we could offer anything for bid. In an effort to provide an exciting and valuable item we offered four seats on our antique 1938 Seagrave "Lowell" fire truck during the annual City of Everett Fourth of July Parade. Family friends of Jacob tendered the winning bid and bought Mark, and his children Shiloh (8), Ford (6), and Rebecca (4) the ride of a lifetime. The benefit auction raised over $11,000 for Jacob's medical expenses. Special thanks to Mark and his family, we hope you had a good time during the parade! ![]()
